ASTM D2486 Scrub Resistance of Wall Paints
The ASTM D2486 test method is a standard of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) that measures the resistance of paints to erosion caused by scrubbing. This test is used when assessing the potential durability of wall paint that is frequently cleaned or scrubbed due to soiling in high-traffic spaces such as work areas, play areas, windows, and areas around doorways. The scope of testing involves scrubbing the surface of a test specimen with a bristle brush and an abrasive compound repeatedly in a circular motion. The specimen is then checked and rated based on the number of scrub cycles it reached before failure.
