Dye Lot

A dye lot is a record attributed to all yarn or yardage in a specific dye bath. Yarns and pieces from the same dye lot are understood to have the same coloration and considered to be a match when used throughout a space. Even with consistent dye formulas between dye lots, slight differences in temperatures, dyeing time, and other factors can create variations in shade between different dye lots. If a textile is used throughout a project, the use of yardage from the same dye lot in the same areas recommended. If this is not possible, it is advisable to compare samples from different dye lots for consistency to avoid unwanted color discrepancies.
