EverStrand is a proprietary brand of carpet fiber made of post-consumer recycled PET polyester that is manufactured by Mohawk Group. Produced for Mohawk’s line of residential carpets, EverStrand is made from 100-percent recycled plastic bottles. The plastic bottles are recycled into PET chips and then extruded into bulk continuous filament (BCF) yarn using Mohawk Continuum, a patented multistep purification system that strengthens the fiber and removes dirt and oily residue. EverStrand fibers are inherently stain-resistant but are also treated with Mohawk’s EasyClean finish for additional soil and stain protection. Carpets made with EverStrand qualify for LEED credits, are CRI Green Label Plus certified and can be recycled through Mohawk’s ReCover program.
