Heterogeneous is used to describe a type of flooring construction, often in the context of vinyl flooring, that is comprised of more than one layer of material. Unlike homogeneous flooring, the wear layer and printed layer in vinyl heterogeneous flooring allows it to be manufactured in many patterns and textures.
