ISO 10545-7 Abrasion Resistance

The ISO 10545-7 Resistance to Surface Abrasion for Glazed Tiles is a standard of the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) that determines the resistance to surface abrasion of glazed ceramic tiles used for flooring. The test method involves exposing the glazed ceramic tile sample to steel balls of various diameters, white aluminum oxide F80, and water. The number of revolutions implemented ranges from 100- 12,000, each correlating to a different class result. After the test the samples are rinsed, dried, and placed under a light source. The surface of the tile sample is inspected and rated on a scale of Class 0 (100 revolutions, not resistant and for walls only) through Class 5 (>12,000 revolutions, heavy resistance).
