Ombré

Ombré refers to a chromatic effect of a color that gradually transitions from light to dark across a single ground. Translated from the French term for “shadow,” ombré is used to describe tonal variations of a single color, though some ombrés feature two or more complementary colors that progressively dissolve into each other. Widely used in fabric since the 19th century, the treatment can also be found in graphics, metallic finishes, surfacing, and wallcoverings.
