Recycled Content

Recycled content, as opposed to virgin stock, is material that has been diverted from a landfill and subsequently used in the manufacturing of new product. Defined by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to prevent false marketing claims, recycled content can be supplied from industrial or consumer waste streams. Claims of recycled content may identify the source origin. If so, the percentage from each waste stream must be quantified by weight. If recycled content is less than 100 percent of the total composition, it is integrated with virgin stock to retain certain performance properties during use.
