Running refers to a wood panel matching method where the panel is assembled in order in as many leaves as necessary. The veneer grain does not have to be centered on the panel and the widths do not need to be consistent. This can allow for some mismatching with wood grains from panel to panel, but it is considered the most economical method for assembling veneer panels.
