Solution Dyed

Solution dyed is the process of adding color to synthetic fibers in the liquid stage. Rather than adding color to the fiber after it has been created—as with dyeing natural fibers like wool that is spun and then dyed—the polymer itself is dyed all the way through before being extracted and pulled through a spinnerette as a fiber. Since pigment is added during the manufacturing stage, water and dye waste are minimized and colors are locked into the yarn, rendering them highly colorfast and fade resistant. This makes solution dyed fibers ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications.
