Suzani is a hand-embroidered textile—typically composed of vegetable-dyed cotton—that was first used as a protective wrap for belongings of ancient nomadic tribes in Central Asia. Adorned with symbols of luck and good fortune, the handmade patterns are frequently emulated in readymade textiles and wallcoverings.
