TARR Rating

The Texture Appearance Retention Rating (TARR) assesses a carpet’s durability in a commercial setting. Setting up samples to be tested in environments that simulate everyday foot traffic in commercial settings, the longer a carpet remains tufted in its original shape the higher its rating will be TARR Rating Draft 2. TARR-rated products are ranked as moderate, heavy, and severe to give specifiers an idea of which environments they will most appropriately withstand. A moderate ranking is designated for offices, examination rooms, and areas with light foot traffic; heavy applies to classrooms, libraries, and military housing; and a severe rank is for airports, medical facilities, and multipurpose areas.
