TENCEL is the branded cellulosic fiber produced by Lenzing company. Lenzing offers three types of fibers, TENCEL Lyocell, TENCEL Modal and TENCEL Luxe. TENCEL fibers are manufactured fibers made from wood pulp with a solvent spun process. TENCEL Lyocell fibers and TENCEL Modal fibers can be combined with a wide range of other fibers such as cotton, polyester, acrylic, wool, and silk. TENCEL Lyocell fabric are gentle to the touch with strength. TENCEL Modal fibers retain color for longer than TENCEL Lyocell fibers. TENCEL Luxe is the lyocell in filament form that provides a soft hand and silky luster to the fabric. TENCEL can be used in active wear, denim, footwear, intimate wear, and home textiles.
Lenzing also developed REFIBRA technology which transforms pre- and post- consumer recycled cotton and wood pulp into the TENCEL Lyocell fibers. Lenzing is aiming to use up to 50-percent recycled content in their fibers by 2024.
